It’s January Wrap Up time!

A Court of Mist and Fury- Sarah J. Maas
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
You know you are invested in a book when you stay up way too late reading because time is irrelevant. I was laying in bed reading and shrieked out loud at this book. It is really hard to surprise me in books, so this gets top marks for that alone. In hindsight, there were a lot of hints and foreshadowing, but I am so glad that I was shocked. ACOMAF was better than ACOTAR for sure.

A Court of Wings and Ruin- Sarah J. Maas
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
This was one of my favorite books of the month, it is definitely in my top books of all time. It was such an exciting book, but also made me really emotional. There is the beautiful connection of found family and for showing up for the people that you love.

The True Love Experiment- Christina Lauren
🤩🤩🤩🤩
This was the Sisterhood of Reading January book pick. I liked it but definitely didn’t love it. I didn’t think there was anything special about it. I usually love Christina Lauren but this really didn’t wow me. It was entertaining and a quick read which is why I still gave it a 4.

Spur of the Moment- Karley Brenna
🤩🤩🤩🤩
I was really happy to be on Karley Brenna’s ARC team a second time. I loved her first novel. This was a cowboy romance- don’t knock it til you try it. It was pretty good. It was sweet and spicy and entertaining. I enjoyed her first book more, but I would recommend this as well.

Thoroughly Pucked- Lauren Blakely
🤩🤩🤩🤩
This was also an ARC read that I loved! Sports romance is becoming one of my favorite romance tropes and this one hit the mark for me. I love that LB writes about different types of relationships in her books. Not everything is the traditional man/woman monogamous couple and I love that. I love the diversity in relationships in her books. It was really spicy and a fun read.

Some Things Never Change- Cee Yang
🤩🤩🤩🤩
I loved this ARC read from first time author Cee Yang. I saw this an immediately signed up to be on her ARC team. It’s a slow burn. It starts off with two life-long friends who find themselves living together. I will admit that at times I found myself screaming at these characters for taking so long to get together. Once they do, its steamy. I can’t wait to read any future books from Cee Yang.

Shared with his Friends- Kitty King
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Kitty King books, what can I even say about them. She hasn’t written a book that I haven’t read and loved. I have probably been on every ARC team and read every book since discovering her after ‘White Hole.’ Her books definitely come with trigger warnings, but damn. She writes dark romance like no other. I HIGHLY recommend.

A Poisonous Cure- Nyte Rose
🤩🤩🤩
This was another ARC read from a first time author. I read the ARC when it was first sent to me because I was pretty pumped from the description of it. However, I DNF this book. I really wanted to love it, but it was all over the place. I couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters, I couldn’t even really follow them. I’ve seen since then that she has really taken the feedback and has done editing and rewriting, so I’d give it another chance.

The Beginning of Our Ending- Sydney Renee
🤩🤩🤩🤩
I was so glad that I received this ARC. I love supporting new authors, especially BIPOC women. Her book was great. It was real, it was entertaining, and it was written in a way that you could relate to the characters. I’m excited to see more diversity in the romance genre and will gladly read any future books by Sydney Renee.

Atomic Habits- James Clear
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Atomic Habits was the first audiobook I’ve ever finished. I’m glad that I listened to it. It was a super helpful book that really gets you thinking about your approach to success through the habits you have. I’ve been incorporating these techniques into my life, so I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to establish better habits in their lives.

Manacled- SenLinYu
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I need to post an entire blog about this because I have so many feelings, so I won’t say too much about it now except that I will never be the same after reading this.

The Prince is Mine- Jayci Lee
🤩🤩🤩🤩
This ARC was my very first NetGalley approval. I was beyond excited to find out that Jayci Lee’s team accepted my request for this ARC. It was really cute. I love that it was set in LA and on the USC campus. It brought back a lot of memories for me. The characters in this book were also diverse and it was a multicultural love. I love to see characters in books learning and embracing other cultures authentically. I highly recommend this book.

XOXO,
KK
