Genre- Romance, Retellings

Lately I am on an audiobook kick. I get tired of listening to music sometimes because I am constantly changing the stations and trying to listen to different songs. Mostly I want to just be able to put my headphones on and listen to something without constantly changing the stations.

Scarred is the 5th audiobook that I have listened to this year. This book is less of a retelling and more of a spicy dark romance with The Lion King vibes.

Lady Sara Beatreaux is a woman with a plan, she is going to destroy the Faasa family. The Faasa family has ruled the kingdom of Gloira Terra for too long. They sit in their castle while the rest of the kingdom starves. They took the most important thing from Sara, they murdered her father. For that, they must pay. She plans to marry King Michael Faasa and destroy him.

Tristan Faasa is known in the kingdom as the scarred prince, younger brother of King Michael. He took hates Michael with a passion and is planning to get rid of him and take over the throne. The problem is that once he meets Lady Beatreaux, he knows he has to have her. He falls in love with her and is willing to give up everything to be with her. She could be his downfall and ruin his plans of becoming king if he lets her.

I liked this book more than Hooked. Even though they are standalone books, they are still part of a series. I loved Tristan. He was a bad boy with a good heart. Sara was a badass that was willing to fight for what she wanted and was even willing to die for the greater good. I definitely recommend this and will continue the series with Wretched next!
