Twisted is the 4th book in the Never After Series. It is a retelling of Aladdin. Yazmine Karam (Jazmine), is the daughter of one of the richest men in the world. All her life she has been treated like a princess and has always been taken care of. When he father becomes ill, and it is clear that he doesn’t have long to live he makes it his dying wish to see her get married. He begins arranging meetings with men in the hopes of doing just that. There is just one problem with that, Yazmin is already in love with the boy she grew up with, Aiden (Aladdin). Aiden’s mother worked in her family home and Yazmin basically grew up with him, but she knew that because his family is poor her father would never accept that pair. Her father would never consider him to be worthy, especially not when her husband stands to inherit the family business. Yasmin strikes a desperate deal with her father’s right-hand man, Julian Faraci (Jafar).

Julian has worked for Yazmin’s father for most of his adult life. He sees the old man not only as a mentor, but as the father figure that he never had. He is ruthless and cunning and will do anything to gain power and status. When he realizes that Yazmin’s father is going to leave the company to whoever marries her, he realizes that he could lose everything that he has built. Even though he thinks that Yazmin is a spoiled, entitled child, he comes up with a plan to force her to marry him so he can get everything he ever wanted.

I’ve been listening to this series on audible and have really enjoyed it. I liked this book because it was a modern day version of Aladdin, where Jafar gets the girl and the fortune. I liked this spice in this book, it was steamy but not overly exaggerated. I think there is one book left in this series, so I’m excited to listen to it.
